Our Story

We are an Australian lifestyle baby brand focused on ethical practices, sustainability and care for ourselves and the environment. We are a family business originating from Adelaide, South Australia, with a passion for stylish Australian made baby clothing. We respect the skills and resources required to make baby garments and we favour quality over quantity. Our designs are creatively hand drawn by us so they are unique and exclusive to Kit & Cradle.

Why Australian made baby clothing?

According to recent Roy Morgan research, if every household spent an additional $10 a week on Australian Made products, it would inject an extra $5 billion into the economy each year and create up to 11,000 new jobs. We hope by taking these small steps that we can create a brighter future for our babes.

Sourcing Organic Cotton

We have sourced super soft certified Organic Cotton which is a superior natural material. During the growing process, no chemicals including pesticides, herbicides or insecticides are used. They are also free of genetically modified (GMO) cotton crops. These practices are not only ethical, but strive for sustainability long term.

Ultimately, this means the organic cotton used in our baby wear is of the finest quality, containing no nasty chemicals and is super soft and gentle on your baby’s delicate skin.

Our Artist Drawn Designs

All our designs are hand drawn by an Aussie artist Sara Duncan (except our iconic cheetah prints). Our designs have taken inspiration from nature, using the world's most spectacular flora and fauna in our designs. This means they are truly unique, one of a kind patterns that are exclusive to Kit & Cradle.

Screenprinting & Sewing

Our fabric is hand printed in Melbourne using environmentally friendly water based inks. The hand printing process gives our fabric a unique and special characteristic meaning no two designs are the same.

The final garments are then sewn and manufactured in Sydney. Short run production ensures high quality pieces and support of local Australian jobs, the Australian textile industry and manufacturers.

Compostable Packaging

We support plastic free packaging where possible, using cotton and paper promotional products and tags. Our packages come wrapped in tissue paper and our satchels are compostable and biodegradable.
